IN-HOUSE CORE
A firm support layer for balanced floor sleep.
The approx. 8 cm firm polyester pad was developed in-house using Teijin polyester fiber. It helps reduce excessive sinking and supports the waist, hips, and body line more evenly.
FIVE-LAYER STRUCTURE
Clear layers inside the loft.
Top and bottom are 100% cotton. The filling layers combine 25% wool with 75% Teijin polyester fiber. At the center is an approx. 8 cm firm polyester support core, developed by OFUTON KOBO.
DELIVERY FROM JAPAN
Compressed for international delivery.
HIMARI is shipped compressed. After opening, lay it flat for 8 to 12 hours. If weather allows, air both sides in sunlight before first use to help the loft recover.
Recovery time may vary with temperature, humidity, and shipping conditions.

Where can I use HIMARI?
HIMARI is made for hard, level surfaces prepared for bedding: tatami, wood floors, clean flooring, platform boards, and bed frames with a stable, breathable base.
If you use it over carpet, choose a clean, low-pile surface and air it regularly. Avoid damp, plush, uneven, or poorly ventilated surfaces where moisture can build up.
Is it washable?
Do not machine-wash, soak, or wash the entire shikibuton. For daily use, place a sheet or cover over HIMARI to protect the cotton surface.
For small localized spills or accidents, such as water, coffee, milk, or child and pet accidents, blot promptly and clean only the affected area. Let it dry completely before using it again. For heavy soiling, consult a professional cleaner experienced with futon bedding.
Does it need time to recover after delivery?
After unpacking, lay HIMARI flat for 8-12 hours so the loft can relax after international transit.
On a dry sunny day, air both sides in the sun for 6-8 hours total before regular use. This helps the shikibuton return to its full, comfortable loft.
Will it feel comfortable right away?
HIMARI and SORA are both balanced, medium-feel shikibuton, made with OFUTON KOBO's in-house support core and an even, stable thickness.
If you normally prefer very soft bedding, such as latex or memory foam, HIMARI may feel firmer at first. If you normally prefer a very hard sleeping surface, such as a hard board or a floor-like bed base, HIMARI may feel softer at first.
Outside of those two strong sleep habits, most customers find HIMARI comfortable and easy to adapt to. This guidance is based on sleep-feel preference and is offered as a reference before ordering.
Is it the same as the version sold in Japan?
Yes. HIMARI is the same Japan-market model, made by the original Japanese factory and shipped directly from Japan to your address.
Are HIMARI sizes the same as U.S. mattress sizes?
No. HIMARI follows Japanese shikibuton sizing, so the centimeter measurements are the official product dimensions. Inch measurements are shown only as a U.S. reference.
All three HIMARI sizes are 210 cm long, or about 82.7 inches. That is longer than many common U.S. Twin or Full mattresses, so please measure your floor area, platform board, or bed frame before ordering.
For one sleeper, choose Single for classic Japanese compactness, Wide Single for more turning room, or Extra Wide Single for the most generous solo floor-sleeping space.
How long does delivery usually take?
Orders are usually prepared within 48 hours, or 2 Japanese business days, after payment is confirmed. Orders placed on weekends or Japanese public holidays may require extra time; if dispatch is delayed, we will contact you by email.
