Ordering a Japanese Shikibuton Abroad: Your Checkout Checklist

Buying a Japanese shikibuton from abroad starts with your delivery destination and the space where you will use it. This checklist helps you move from OFUTON KOBO’s international guides to the official Shopify checkout with the right country, model and size.

Published by KAWAGUCHISEIKEN CO., LTD., the authorized international retailer of OFUTON KOBO Co., Ltd. Information checked on 12 October 2026; prices, stock and purchase conditions must be checked again when you order.

1. Select the country where the order will be delivered

Start with the official country and region selector. The independent international storefront currently publishes 41 market-language routes for 34 delivery countries and regions. Use the route for the actual delivery address, and read its product pages and local Terms; do not select another country to bypass an unavailable destination.

2. Measure the sleeping surface before choosing a size

HIMARI is 210 cm long and is made in 100, 120 and 140 cm widths; SORA is 200 cm long and is made in 100 and 140 cm widths. These Japanese dimensions are not automatic equivalents of local Twin, Double or Queen sizes. Australia currently offers only the 100 cm-wide sizes for either model. The destination’s product page determines which sizes are offered there.

Use the futon size guide and HIMARI and SORA comparison to check fit and feel. Consider the room, the supporting surface and whether you can lift or fold the bedding to keep its underside dry; the care guide explains the routine. Neither model should be machine-washed or soaked.

3. Confirm the offer for your destination

On the chosen market’s product page, select the exact model and size, then use its purchase button to continue to the official Shopify store at shop.ofutonkobo.com. Check the delivery country, currency, variant, quantity and current availability again before payment. Another market’s price or the shop’s base currency is not a quote for your order.

4. Check the complete cost and delivery conditions

Standard international shipping is included where stated for the selected product and market. Import duties, VAT/GST, brokerage and local clearance charges remain the buyer’s responsibility unless checkout expressly says they are included. Read the destination’s Terms and the Shopify shipping policy, then confirm the final total and delivery options at checkout. Delivery windows are estimates rather than guaranteed arrival dates.

5. Read return conditions before ordering

We do not offer a sleep-trial programme. Local withdrawal rights and remedies for faulty goods still apply as explained in the official refund policy. For a return, contact the retailer before sending anything back; the customer normally pays the direct return cost to Japan unless the item is confirmed faulty, incorrect or not as described.

Find buying information in your preferred language

The independent site’s buying guides are available through the English, French, Italian, Dutch, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese blog hubs. These are guide languages; they do not mean every local storefront or Shopify checkout offers all six.
