SORA · Made deeper

HIMARI's structure, made deeper.

We built SORA for customers outside Japan who want more depth from a Japanese shikibuton.

It keeps the firm core and fold-away form of HIMARI, then adds about 2 cm of loft and a 50% wool blend for more depth under the shoulders and hips.

Premium Japanese floor sleep

A fuller sleep surface, only when you need it.

SORA is for customers who want more depth than the Japanese household standard, while still keeping the shikibuton rhythm: lay it out, sleep, air it, fold it away.

How to choose SORA

Choose SORA when comfort depth matters more than price.

Choose HIMARI for value and a compact fold. Choose SORA when you want fuller cushioning under the shoulders and hips.

Premium depth.

Choose SORA if you are used to a Western mattress or want more cushioning under the shoulders and hips.

02 · Daily reset

Still folds away.

The thicker profile does not remove the daily advantage of a shikibuton: air it, fold it, and recover the room.

03 · Structure

Fuller, not shapeless.

The design keeps HIMARI's grounded support concept while adding a more generous wool-blend surface feel.

What defines the current SORA specification?

SORA has calm gray piping around all four edges, approximately 12 cm of loft, and a filling of 50% wool and 50% polyester fiber.

What does the name SORA mean?

In Japanese, SORA is associated with the sky and a sense of openness and calm.

Is SORA made in Japan?

Yes. SORA is assembled, sewn, inspected, and finished at the OFUTON KOBO atelier in Oyama, Tochigi, Japan.

What sizes are available?

The current product record includes Single 200 × 100 cm and Extra Wide Single 200 × 140 cm. Confirm current inventory and price in the official international store before checkout.

Can a shikibuton this full still fold away?

Yes. SORA folds into three sections for airing and storage. Its approximate folded footprint is 67 cm by the selected width, with about 36 cm of folded loft.

What surface should I use beneath SORA?

Use a firm, level, clean, and breathable surface such as tatami, suitable flooring with a moisture-control layer, a platform board, or a ventilated bed frame. Air the shikibuton and the surface beneath it regularly.
